My first ever volcano. We went to the rifugio Sapienza (2000 mt approx.) and then we climbed up to 3000 close by the sud-est crater. How magnificent!
I have to say that during my stay in Catania I dreamed to see in person a real lava eruption but nothing… I will have to go back again then!
From the top looking all around you and down to the Bove valley, the black lake of lava, you could feel an impressive destructive quiet. The lady bugs were the only individual being we bumped into during our long long walk. Funny!
